The Common App simplifies the application process by providing one application that can be sent to any of the participating colleges and universities.

The Common App is a college application that both transfer and first-time college students can use to apply to any of the over 1,000 schools available on the platform. Some of the universities on this platform include the Ivy League schools (Harvard, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Yale, and Princeton), University of Southern California (USC), Stanford University, Baylor University, California Lutheran University, etc. Some universities on the Common App are outisde the United States.

While it may be tempting to want to apply for many schools, it's important to note that many schools require supplamental essays, separate application fees, and other material on top of the required Common App essay. The Common App essay is known as your "personal statement" and should be an emotional, creative, yet perseverant story that describes your intended path through university. Ideally, your personal statement, supplemental essay[s], and major should somewhat align, especially as you relate it your intended career.

To get started, check out the Common App website (linked below) to get your application started, as well as a college search (also linked below) for all participating universities.
